Let us start the story with a rally…

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address for 2008 centered on a critical issue — Value Added Tax. Based on the President’s report, it is from VAT that the government gets funding for the projects targeted to meet the needs of the country’s poor, and so, earlier suggestions to remove the VAT to ease the burden of the Filipino citizenry is now officially kapoof.
The President mentioned that the VAT would fund more projects, including “money” for the poor (so they could pay their electric bills). There’s also a health care project for the elderly, and microfinance.
Mula sa buwang ito, wala nang income tax ang sumusweldo ng P200,000 o mas mababa sa isang taon – P12 billion na bawas-buwis para sa maralita at middle class. Maraming salamat, Congress.
So workers who get an annual salary below 200,000, thanks to Congress, would get an income tax exemption. So what about those who earn a little bit more than that? or even way more than that? Our people, the working class to be exact, go through the same sacrifices whatever salary they have.
Say there are two employess, one gets PhP16,000.00 every month while the other, who has more load, gets PhP17,000.00… So technically, there’s a PhP 1,000.00 difference, which is just fair considering the additional load he carries. Because of this recent SONA announcement, in a year’s time, the employee who earns PhP16,000.00 “would have earned more” than the one who’s got a lot more done. Now, that is not fair.
Texting is a way of life. I asked the telecoms to cut the cost of messages between networks. They responded. It is now down to 50 centavos.
And yes, if there’s one great announcement made at this year’s SONA, it’s that “texting” would now only cost .50 cents.

Sarah and John Lloyd, A Very Special Love
Do the chicken dance. lol.
The wait is over! A Very Special Love, Star Cinema’s latest offering starring Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo and Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz, will have it’s Red Carpet Premier on July 29, 7pm, at SM Megamall Cinema 9 & 10. The movie will have run in theaters nationwide a day after, July 30.
Sidenote, in yesterday’s The Buzz, host Ruffa Gutierrez asked Sarah to dedicate a line from the song “A Very Special Love” to her co-star John Lloyd. Her line: “You’re not like the rest, I know you’re one of the best”. John Lloyd feels the same.

Holy Gospel: Matthew 13,44-52
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls.
When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.
Do you understand all these things? They answered, “Yes.”
And he replied, “Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.”
