Home Business Idea

bling it on

Now that a lot of companies are downsizing, and more (and more people) are getting laid off, maybe it’s time that we think of putting up even a small business — a home business of sort, just in case.

This is something displaced OFWs could do, especially since the government has a fifty thousand peso-loan offer for them, through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)… or what jobless people could do while on the look-out for a new job.

So far, these are a few home business idea you could get into:

Home Essentials. If you are the type who loves to clean and would wanna help others “clean up”, you might enjoy learning how to make detergents and dishwashing liquids, or fabric softeners or car wash stuff. I’ve actually attended a workshop of this (got the contact from an entrepreneur.com), and for a while, was able to save money because I need not buy some home-cleaning stuff… I was able to sell a lot too. I just stopped because carrying bottles is not my thing, they’re too heavy. Hehe.

birthday banner

Personalize It. If you know graphics, like Photoshop — heck, even MSWord, you could put up a home graphics business. Of course, first, you have to brush up on your skills, think of what you’d be offering — will you be designing birthday banners, or invitations, or albums, or even business cards?… Then, build a portfolio (which you have to put up on websites, even free ones like multiply.com) for people to see (future clients, hello!). Wait for calls, or if you want, you could market your “online portfolio” first… then, that’s it. This is actually one of the things I do, as a side job. Hehehe.

blog

Write your way to the Bank. Instead of riding, why dont you write your way to the bank… And how? By either blogging or becoming a ghost writer. Yeah! If you wanna be a pro-blogger (that’s those who earn from blogging), set up a blog, put ads on it, and then register on sites that would give you moohlah. It’s a decent way to earn extra.

Bling Thing. I remember about three years ago, I did a line of jade jewels for a sideline.. It’s after I attended a workshop on jewelry-making. I was fortunate because someone commissioned me to do the jade jewelries for her to give as gifts back then (it was nearing Christmas)… I also taught my mom to do this, and we were able to sell even fancy ones. We get our supplies from Quiapo. :)

So there… a few home business idea.. Truth is, these ideas I wrote are the ones I already tried (or am still doing). Just do what you love, and with patience and self-belief, you’ll earn from it. Who knows, eventually, you could even put up franchises for your own business. *wink*

Goodluck!

Bring Down Sally: Alternative Rock Band

January 31, 2009 · Filed Under music · 17 Comments

Here’s one Pinoy alternative rock band to watch out for — Bring Down Sally.

Bring Down Sally

Bring Down Sally is a campus-based band formed in August of 2007. The band is the representation of the youth of today — on the wrong path, and needing the right attention.

Because of their different influences, Bring Down Sally came up with a combination of alternative, pop and punk, delivering a feel-good sound that people could listen to over and over…

Bring Down Sally has been making quite an impact in the youth band music scene for some time now. In fact, Bring Down Sally has been nominated “Promising New Artist, Best Indie Music, Best Independent Music Group and Best Composition” for the song Knock-Knockin’ in the current Philippine Digital Music and Short Film Festival & Awards. They are also set to be a part of the 2009 Radio Pilipinas Metro Manila Tour.

The group’s also among the main featured bands of the Edge Tour Extreme Jam 2008 and at the National BMX flatland competition held at the Mall of Asia last December 20, 2008. They were also part of the MSEUF’s compilation album, “Proudly Maroon and White”, and of the Edge Fest 2008 Compilation album “Edge Fest 2008” which was distributed by Vicor Music Corporation.

Members of Bring Down Sally are Criselda “CC” Collantes (vocalist), Andrew Rojo (guitarist/ back-up vocals), Kyle Anunciacion (guitarist/back-up vocals), Oniel Oabel (bassist), and John Vincent Martinez (drummer).

I just signed up at the SSS Online Inquiry.

sss

I didnt know that they changed the SSS Online System… I just registered, and hopefully I’d get through.. this time.

Ive been trying to access their inquiry system for the last months, as my cousin wanted me to check on her contributions cause she’s preggy, but no, I cant get through. And guess what, she’s set to deliver her baby na this February… and the site system’s still down.

The Social Security System Online Inquiry hasnt always been like this.. I remember I used to check on my personal contributions back in the day.. but I dont know what happened now. They even have a different set up where you have to register now to access but… haaaay.

Maybe a super techie could help set up their system.

… but ill reserve judgment til I get my password.
