DOJ versus Hayden Kho

October 24, 2009 · Filed Under celebrities · Comment

The Hayden Kho scandal continues…

… this time, it’s Hayden Kho versus the Department of Justice.

This has something to do with actress Katrina Halili’s complaint against Hayden (violation of Republic Act No. 9262 — that’s the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act) after the “accidental” release of their sex tapes.

Hayden must be feeling really down right now… but still, it’s no match to what the victims have probably gone through. If that happened to me, I’d be like downing bottles of weight loss pills (okay, that’s not good).

Anyway, Hayden is kinda on his own on this one as the DOJ dropped the complaints against lady love, Dr. Vicky Belo, as well as the two other guys (bistek and Erick), and the girl Princess, who’s reported to have “confessed” everything to Dr. Belo.

Chinese Volunteer Firefighters

Let’s play with fire!!! Okay, I’m just kidding.

I was researching tidbits on firefighters — with our house just a few steps away from such a station, when I came across an article by hard-hitting journalist Mon Tulfo, about government firefighters being compared to Chinese volunteers.

Let me quote from the article — “The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) might as well be abolished in Metro Manila and the task of putting out fires assigned to civilian fire volunteers.” The piece says that Chinese volunteer gets to the fire scene faster than their government counterpart, and that they “dont go around asking for money from owners of houses or establishments on fire”.

Makes me wonder what makes all the difference — of course, that’s if the “accusations” are true. Could it be the training? Or maybe the values?

Will things change if there’s a specialized course on fire fighting here in the Philippines — say a Bachelor of arts in fire service administration? I saw one online, Lewis University (it says it’s a Lasallian University, so maybe our local De La Salle can carry something like it, noh?), and the course includes lessons on fire service administration, risk management, legal aspects, criminalistics, and even administration of emergency medical service (very very important!). They also have the very necessary “ethics in fire service” — so firefighters would not even think of “stealing” from the fire victims. tsk. They also have Planning for Community Fire Protection.

Maybe this is the solution, the thing that we need. Firefighting isn’t just a job, it’s something that saves lives, and so more knowledge and more heart should be put into it. Maybe sometime in the near future, we can have something like this.

As for now, thank you to our firefighters, and our volunteers. :)

Blakdyak’s The Tribe

Remember Modelong Charing singer, Blakdyak?

Yes, the guy from noontime show Eat Bulaga who revived Reggae in the Philippines in the 90s. He’s back with a new album and it’s called, The Tribe.

Anyway, speaking of, I gathered from the abs-cbn website that Blakdyak now has four kids, with his partner (and now, manager) of eight years. Am gonna quote from the web, saying it’s an “illicit affair”, but that which changed Blakdyak’s life for the better.

Okay, we’re not advocating that here, you know, illicit stuff (video surveillance equipment anyone? hehe!) but maybe someday soon, these two people madly inlove will be able to straighten things out as far as marriage is concerned. We love total happy endings, anyway… but for now, yes, fill the world with love as you build your “tribe”.

Lotsa love and luck for Blakdyak and his fambam!

Sunday Gospel

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 10:35-45.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.”

He replied, “What do you wish (me) to do for you?”

They answered him, “Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left.”

Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?”

They said to him, “We can.” Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink, you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized;

but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared.”

When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John.

Jesus summoned them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones make their authority over them felt.

But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant;

whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.

For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
