10 Years Expiry for Marriage
When I first heard about this one on the morning news, I was like “What?!?!”
I mean, why would anybody want to impose an expiration date on something blessed as a marriage? Is it not a sacrament?
The woman who came up with the idea argues that it is for those who are abused, who are in a rut as far as their own marriages are concerned… But if you are being beaten to the core, would you wanna wait for 10 years because by then the validity of the “marriage” would be kapoof”? Wouldnt it be best to seek help from others the moment or before it happens, seek therapy to make things better?
I dont know.. Maybe people have to clue me on this… to me, marriage is something to be worked on — to perfect through the years… it’s not like okay i got pregnant, let’s go wed, and have honeymoons at cancun hotels… it’s all about finding that one person with whom youll be spending the rest of your life… for better or for worse.. for richer, for poorer… till death do you part… not til ten years, then let’s just renew it… so we could marry someone else… and then we’ll wait another ten years.. omg.
I like what Anthony Taberna said.. it’s something like, pray that you will be blessed with a wonderful, perfect partner, and with faith — you will be given just that…. and for sure, you would wanna spend your whole life with that special someone.
Love and faith…
Michael V for Manny Villar
It’s MV for MV…
… as i have seen from the newest among Presidentiable Manny Villar’s political ads. Popular comedian, rapper, and host Michael V is endorsing Villar for a win this 2010 election. I wonder how much he got paid? Is it a new house, a car, or is it enough to buy like, a branch of breckenridge hotels or whatever?
Or it could also be pro-bono.. cause the Senator is kinda pushing for the “Laking Tondo to A Rich Business Man slash Politico” image — from rags to riches — which his endorsers are too.
Senator Villar is sooo “big time”, huh. He’s got pambansang papi Willie Revillame, comedy king Dolphy, and now, Michael V to endorse him. Super Wowowee! [as long as he's not using -- and he'll never use government funds for his campaign, then cool.]
Anyway, goodluck to Manny Villar.

Noynoy Aquino’s Campaign Ad
Have you seen it?
Well, if you havent, here it is:
Song’s “Hindi Ka Nag-iisa”, sung by Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez… the video is so grand, great concept, kudos to whoever thought of that. Probably thanks to Kris, the vid boasts of super celebrities including megastar Sharon Cuneta, talent manager Boy Abunda, comedy queen Aiai delas Alas, world’s sexiest Dingdong Dantes and girlfriend, FHM’s sexiest Marian Rivera, singer composer Ogie Alcasid, dyosa Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, PBB’s Mariel Rodriguez and Bianca Gonzales, and a whole lot more people.. I’m gonna need the best eye wrinkle cream before i can identify and count them all… Anyway, space is probably not enough to list their names here. hehehe.
It’s as if this year’s presidential campaign would be a battle of celebrity endorsers! Noynoy looked sincere, he’s kinda growing on me.. maybe afterwards, he can highlight the things he has done, so we would know more about him as a worker, over being an Aquino.
Time to know Noynoy.
Chinese Volunteer Firefighters
Let’s play with fire!!! Okay, I’m just kidding.
I was researching tidbits on firefighters — with our house just a few steps away from such a station, when I came across an article by hard-hitting journalist Mon Tulfo, about government firefighters being compared to Chinese volunteers.
Let me quote from the article — “The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) might as well be abolished in Metro Manila and the task of putting out fires assigned to civilian fire volunteers.” The piece says that Chinese volunteer gets to the fire scene faster than their government counterpart, and that they “dont go around asking for money from owners of houses or establishments on fire”.
Makes me wonder what makes all the difference — of course, that’s if the “accusations” are true. Could it be the training? Or maybe the values?
Will things change if there’s a specialized course on fire fighting here in the Philippines — say a Bachelor of arts in fire service administration? I saw one online, Lewis University (it says it’s a Lasallian University, so maybe our local De La Salle can carry something like it, noh?), and the course includes lessons on fire service administration, risk management, legal aspects, criminalistics, and even administration of emergency medical service (very very important!). They also have the very necessary “ethics in fire service” — so firefighters would not even think of “stealing” from the fire victims. tsk. They also have Planning for Community Fire Protection.
Maybe this is the solution, the thing that we need. Firefighting isn’t just a job, it’s something that saves lives, and so more knowledge and more heart should be put into it. Maybe sometime in the near future, we can have something like this.
As for now, thank you to our firefighters, and our volunteers.
