The Cebu Pacific Blogging Challenge: Wanna Fly for Free?

October 1, 2008 · Filed Under blogging, places · 3 Comments

Cebu Pacific

I’ve always wondered how it is like to visit Palawan and check their underground river — yes, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, the Philippines’ bet to be part of the 7 Wonders of Nature of the World.

I first heard about the place from my friend, Voltaire. He’s worked there, and he’s the first one to campaign about the underground river. Who wouldnt? From the pictures alone, you can tell that it’s almost a paradise. I got more amazed when I saw it on TV, first during the Big Brother ala-survivor thing thay had, with the Bakawan lady, or when the housemates ate this worm-like creature. The place got more media coverage, all showing how beautiful the place is. Am so impressed, I even helped campaign about it through my New Seven Wonders of Nature post in my Greenphils blog.

Now, this might come true, when I get chosen to be the winner of the Cebu Pacific (click here!) blogging challenge (think positive, hehe!).

Well, if you guys wanna fly for free, all you need is to join the challenge. It’s fairly easy, all you have to do is to blog about your dream destination… Get more info about the challenge, check the blog post about it in the Wordpress Philippines blog.

Cebu Pacific, make my dream come true. It’s my birthday soon so be my Oprah! Hehehe!

Palawan, here I come! Yey!

Goodluck!

Shocking News: Baguio City in State of Calamity Due to Garbage

July 28, 2008 · Filed Under lifestyle, opinion, places · 2 Comments

Read: Calamity because of Garbage. This is shocking! To think Baguio City is one of the top tourist destinations in our country. The government there is desperately looking for town to accept their garbage, and they’re looking at the Province of Tarlac to be the place.

This is depressing, especially for Baguio residents. How can they allow this to happen?

This shouldn’t be happening. Garbage is definitely avoidable. But thinking of this scenario in Baguio City, it could be a blessing in disguise. People should learn from this disaster.

Having no garbage collector in a single household in a day is already a major problem, what more if its a city-wide disaster? They have to think fast before impending danger creeps in. Uncollected garbage may cause health risks to the residents especially during rainy season.

The problem and the solution cannot be passed on to the mayor alone. This should be dealt with by its residents and it should be a collective effort. Baguio City used to be a pleasant place to visit, especially during Holy Week but due to traffic and smog,  Baguio City slid down bottom of the Tourist Destination. To add to that this gross problem, now it seemed hopeless.

Garbage problem shouldn’t be difficult to solve. There’s only one solution to this: practice “Zero Waste Management”. It is doable. It only takes practice to make it a habit.

Let’s hope this doesn’t happen in Boracay, another top tourist destination. Let’s wake up! Don’t make your place be in state of calamity due to garbage!

Greenhills: Walking Your Way to a Healthy Lifestyle

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under lifestyle, places · Comment

You may be wondering, what could be the first thing you can do to live a healthy lifestyle. There are so many ways actually. Obesity is an epidemic the whole world has to deal with, and for you not to contribute to that  problem is a start for the rest of the world population. Imagine you having to start the initiative is a big deal, of course you wont believe that in a single time, you alone actually started it. (bummer :) )

But think of this, in a single moment all over the world, maybe, 10 million of you are thinking of the same way, taking the first step towards a healthy lifestyle. Inspiring others to do the same. Isn’t that amazing?

Now that motivation has finally sunk in, where’s the best place to set foot? Well here’s a nice place to start the habit: Greenhills. In the morning, Greenhills is a good place to walk, especially if you are living within the vicinity. Free parking when you come at before 7 am, and you have a very big space to walk around. A one round of the whole area starting from the Greenhills Theater to Unimart all the way back to Greenhills Theater is around 1 kilometer, so if you can make at least 3 rounds, that’s good enough.

If you continue doing this, you’ll even develop friendship with people having the same goal. Healthy lifestyle. There you’ll probably meet a friend who can be your walking buddy. Whatever happens, for as long as you have the motivation to lead a healthy lifestyle, it’s good enough not for anybody else but for you.

So what are you waiting for? Start walking!

How to Live in the Province and be Self Sustaining.

July 21, 2008 · Filed Under lifestyle, places · 3 Comments

Living in the province is so laid back you can actually stay in bed sleeping the whole day. Of course you wont do this unless you’re sick. And besides having to spend your whole day in bed would eventually make you jaded and useless at the same time.

Living in this condition is not a hard thing to do but hopefully it doesn’t get into your system because as soon as the laziness kicks in, you wont want to work ever again. :)

So to start with, here’s how to live in the province and be self-sustaining:

1. Business. It’s good to start having your own business establishment first. If not business, something to have you earning while in the province. Sort of like passive, wherein you don’t lift a finger and yet the money comes in fluidly. Easy to get hold of, whenever and wherever you need it.

2. Down-size. It would also help if you learn how to downsize your standard of living. Meaning, no expensive coffee, no fancy restaurants and no malls to roam around. Just fresh air to breath and big backyard to walk around.

3. Learn Basic Gardening. You don’t want to spend much on food? Learn how to plant. Planting your own food would save a lot of money and provides a good therapy too. It eases you of stress and relaxes your body as you garden. Besides knowing where your food is growing is a relieving feeling already.

5. Learn Basic Poultry. Have your own chicken in your backyard and get fresh eggs and sinampalukan or tinola everyday.

4. Learn to befriend your neighbors or be close to your family. Having your support group is one thing to remember. In this case, it is a good back up plan in case you’re tired of walking alone in your own backyard, or needed anything to fix in your house, or some emergencies that you need someone to help you out with.

Those are just few of the things you’ll find interesting to do or learn to live with when you decide living in the province. Not a very hard thing to do yet a lot are still lured in the jungle we call “city”. Maybe a little educating is what our urbanistas need.
