Intel Philippines Stops Operations

Sad news for Pinoy workers…

A lot of them will be losing their jobs, about 2000 employees, as Intel Philippines stops its operations within the year. They expected a loss, but not that big a loss as they got for 2008.

Learned about it in the news the other day, and the head being interviewed said that Intel Philippines has prepared packages for their employees because they want to take care of their people… and if I remember what the woman said correctly, the “compensation” the Intel people would be getting will be based on their length of service.

And I understand, Intel will also be closing in two other countries. Aww, that’s really sad.

But know what, let’s all be hopeful, and believe that this is just a phase we all have to go through to be better — to be more tough. Things could go elliptical, for all we know…
