Another international recognition for Filipinos!

Brillante Mendoza won as Best Director at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival for his indie film, “Kinatay”, beating brilliant filmmakers Ang Lee and Quentin Tarantino (who is very much loved by Pinoy filmmakers). It’s a 360 degree turn for his film, after a critic regarded “Kinatay” as being the worst film shown at the Cannes Film Festival. I wonder what that person is saying now (anyway, it’s his opinion).

Congrats also to Coco Martin and Maria Isabel Lopez, and the rest of the actors, the staff and crew of the film!

By the way, other Pinoy films that made it to the film festival are “Independencia” and “Manila”. I believe Manila stars Piolo Pascual, and it’s directed by Adolfo Alix.
