It’s always great to focus on what we have, and we have a winner right here…

But hmnn, come to think of it, all of them are practically winners, atleast here in the country.. maybe with a little more practice, we could get the gold next time.

Congratulations, guys!

Mabuhay ang atletang Pinoy!

The Beijing Olympics and the Olympic Tickets Scam

August 5, 2008 · Filed Under news, opinion · Comment

The Beijing Olympics is fast approaching and seeing the fireworks dress rehearsals for the Final Day, is definitely impressive. They have constructed some amazing venues for different sports events.

Beijing Olympics

But, oh no! A lot of people have been duped by this one website offering tickets to the upcoming Olympics in Beijing, China.

Tsk.. So sad considering that most of those who bought tickets probably (well, most likely) saved up for it, and now, some opportunists “stole” their money. Some even lost as much as $27,000.00. That amount could feed thousands of poor Pinoys already. Haaay…

This is proof that people should really be cautious in online transactions, especially with lots of money involved, cause there are people who are guiltless and would just take advantage of others. Reports about this Beijing Olympic tickets scam started buzzing as early as March, but people did not really mind (we guess) cause, according to reports, when you search online for tickets, the site’s gonna come up with a rank even higher than the official Olympic website. They just got suspicious when the tickets “they bought” did not arrive.

Tsk. That’s an olympic gold for a scam.

Bike for Rights 2008: PadyaKARAPATAN para sa CHINA

July 12, 2008 · Filed Under event · Comment

Here in the Philippines, bikers are more than just bikers. They are also advocates of environmental and social causes.

I’ve come across hundreds, maybe even thousands of bikers, for the past few years Ive been with the organization I am in. These men and women bikers have been rallying with us, supporting us on clean air concerns, with a most special mention to the Firefly Brigade. These are the people who have been tirelessly supporting our Bike for Clean Air events.

Come August, a major cycling group will support yet another cause — and it’s called, “Padyakarapatan para sa China”. Here’s an info I got about the event:

Amnesty International Philippines, together with Cycling Advocates (CYCAD), Pugad Lawin Philippines, Inc., Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Quezon City Government-Quezon City Health Office, invites everybody to join the Bike for Rights 2008: PadyaKARAPATAN para sa CHINA to be held on August 3, 2008, 6:00 AM, Sunday at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

Registration Fee is P200 – that’s for a Jersey and some snacks; and P50 for bikers who would want just snacks (Jerseys are available on a first come-first served basis).

For you guys who are interested, just contact Amnesty International Philippines at 9279856/ 9276008/ 0920-2637305/ section@amnesty.org.ph or visit their office at 17-B Kasing Kasing St., cor. K-8th, Kamias, Quezon City.

Also, for more information on Amnesty International’s Beijing Olympics Campaign, log on to www.amnesty.org.ph.

Am positive my friend, Kuya Rhino, already has insight on this event.
