Boy Abunda on Tourism

There’s this issue about President elect Noynoy Aquino wanting Boy Abunda to be the Department of Tourism Secretary.

Frankly, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Maybe I’m not too deep in politics but I feel that Boy is one of those people who know how to market and sell any product. Truth be told, our country is a product that needs to be repackaged so people would “patronize” it. It has all the “goods”, but the image isn’t as nice as we would like people to know us.

Boy’s experience as a top media personality for years is a testament to his commitment to excellent public relations “talent”. It’s just sad that there are some who brand people on tv as dumb (they’re not just there to pose for the camera with high-end Minka Aire), when in fact, it takes brains to stay long in their field. It’s not just being intelligent but being wise as well.

Anyway, I think Boy has already mentioned he’s not gonna accept any government position, if ever he’ll get offers. So now that he’s out of the “game”, I just pray that the next department heads will be serious and dedicated to really uplifting our beloved Philippines.

David Cook and David Archuleta in Manila this March?

American Idol winner David Cook, and his runner up, David Archuleta, are coming over for a concert… I wonder how true this one is…

First heard it in The Buzz, Boy Abunda mentioned it after sharing to the viewers that he talked with Jomari Yllana, and Joms mentioned this to him (am i right?). The topic’s actually about the actor’s rumored break up with Concert Queen Pops Fernandez… Boy said he called Joms, but got too embarassed to ask him of the issue.

Anyway, am not too sure if a David-David concert’s a hit, especially now that American Idol’s on its new season… but that’s just me.

Calayan versus Belo

… just when it’s almost over…

This time, it’s Dr. Manny Calayan versus Dra. Vicky Belo. Nothing serious really (I hope), but Dr. Manny finally lets his heart out on the issue that Dra. Belo said that if you wanna look like Boy Abunda, go to Calayan’s.

Dr. Manny, in rebuttal, said Dra. Vicky should have picked an endorser of his clinic who’s of the same age (or almost) as Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual. He said Dra. Belo shouldve had picked Jon Avila and Jake Cuenca, also endorsers of Calayan.

Well, Dr. Manny’s right… Same age! Truth is, Boy Abunda looks good for his age… add that to the fact that he is one of the sensible people on tv.

Anyway, I hope this thing gets settled na. I think Dra. Belo has a lot of problems now, and this one would just add to her stress.

I could see light at the end of the tunnel… err, it’s light fixtures pala.. toinks.

No, seriously, I hope things get well between them.

Boy Abunda, Hurt by Vicky Belo

Talent manager and multi-awarded talkshow host Boy Abunda got hurt by Dr. Vicky Belo. Apparently, Dra. Belo said something like “if you wanna look like Boy Abunda, go to Calayan; if you wanna look like Piolo Pascual or Dingdong Dantes, go to Belo”.

In response, Boy said that in his entire career, he never did step on other people to get to where he is right now — that he never claimed he is a beauty, and given that, nobody has the right to mock him… and I believe a lot of people agree.

News is that the doctor already sent her apologies to Boy via text.
