PDA Scholar Christian Expelled

Photobucket Christian Alvear, the 25-year old PDA Scholar from Taguig, has been officially expelled from the Pinoy Dream Academy after getting only 43.99% of the total text votes. Inaki, who got 56.01% of the votes then joined the rest of the scholars as part of Maestro’s List of Ten.

The scholars performed in trio in tonight’s gala performance. The “real-deal” new boyband: Bugoy, Sen, and Van, as juror Gerard Salonga puts it, are the star scholars for the week. They got a high score of 9.82.

There’s also a new twist in the Academy — the honorary scholar. PDA wait-lister Poy of Zamboanga gets to enter the academy as an honorary scholar where she would have the chance to perform side-by-side the regular scholars, and will take home PHp 50,000.00 every time she beats the others. She also has the chance to be a regular scholar, if she performs excellently inside the Academy, and could also be eligible to win the top prize of a million pesos (and more).

Poy had a rough start tough, having sung off-key tonight, something the jurors noticed. Gerard Salonga particularly told her that her voice is good, but she needs to sing pieces as her, and not imitate others. PDA Season 2 is all for originality, we guess.

Pinoy Dream Academy scholar Sheng expelled

Comedy Bar singer Sheng got officially expelled from the Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 last night after getting only 48.93% of the votes. She was up against scholar Jet Singh, a video/radio jock.

At the third gala performance, the scholars were asked to render songs for their bestfriends. Liezel got the Star Scholar title for the third time, while Christian and Vans joined her as second and third top scholars of the night.

Judges during the third gala night are Louie Ocampo, Gerard Salonga, and Rachel Ann Go.

West Side Story at the Meralco Theater this September

Balladeer and Asian hearthrob Christian Bautista pairs up with singer-actress Karylle for the West Side Story from September to October this year at the Meralco Theater.

West Side Story also features no less than Miss  Joanna Ampil, with Gerard Salonga as musical director; Audie Gemora as executive producer, and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo as director.

Tickets are priced at P1,200 (orchestra/loge center), P1,000 (orchestra/loge side), P700 (balcony center), and P500 (balcony side). Tickets are now sold at Ticketworld (632) 8919999 (www.ticketworld.com.ph).
