VP Binay, HUDCC Chair

July 15, 2010 · Filed Under opinion · Comment

I just read from the ABS-CBN web that Vice President Jejomar Binay is now the Chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

The news said that VP Binay has finally accepted President Noynoy Aquino’s offer for him to be one, although he originally wanted to be the Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government. [It's weird seeing how government positions are like a dip bar for prominent personalities]… Anyway, personally, I pray that VP Binay will do great as HUDCC chair, and that he will be able to help everybody, atleast every family, have a decent shelter.

Anyway, with VP Binay there, and knowing how Makati is now, I’m one with the rest of the Filipinos who are hopeful that the Philippines will become an even better place for all of us. I hope they’d be great as partners — Pnoy and Binay. :)

Fruitas and the 2010 Presidentiables

Who will you vote for?

A lot of us are still undecided as to who to vote for this coming May. Guess it has to do with the fact that people really are now becoming more intelligent, as far as choosing the right person is concerned. And the men we have now are all too different from each other, in a way.

It’s so hot, I had bought a smoothie from Fruitas, which made me realize how still undecided I am… You see, this fruit drink company has cups with the Presidentiables on it (i dont know if it’s what you call cad drawing, basta, it’s cute), and so you had to choose your glass which would kinda reveal who you’re gonna vote for. I chose the one with all the Presidentiables… (will post the pic when I had the chance lol).

Anyway, the cup has this:

Gordon, the Transformer
Villanueva, Bangon Pilipinas
Jamby, Pag bad ka Lagot ka
Gibo, New Politics
Gordon’s pamangkin, Ang Kapatiran

Did not see this though…
Estrada, Makamahirap
Ninoy, Di Magnanakaw
Villar, Sipag at Tyaga

Anyway, Id like to quote my tita on her choice of President…

“coming from noynoy, “hindi ako magnanakaw” is so much more believable because he happens to be the son of tita cory aquino. we have gone through various “galing at talino” presidents and look where we are now.. what our country desperately needs is a president who will not steal and plunder our dwindling resources. i have no quarrel with green but right now it pales in comparison with yellow.. let the sunshine in!”

… makes sense… hmmmnn..

Villar Spent a Billion on Ads?

What? On ads alone?

He really is “tunay na mahirap”… hehehe. Anyway, I just saw on tv (as in just now) that Manny Villar spent over a Billion on his political ads alone… Omigosh. That money could have been used to build hospitals or schools… or to buy medicines for the sick, or much-needed multiple vitamins for babies and kids…

Am not surprised though, cause I see his face every night on tv… and my super baby nephew, he is about two years old, knows the infamous “nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura” jingle. Hehehe. Effective strategy, in all fairness.

Administration candidate Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro has spent (so far) about 407 million pesosesoses. I just wonder if that’s from our taxes. Hmmnn…. I hope not.

Noynoy Aquino ranks third, as far as ad spending is concerned, having spent 268 million.

So much money… will they “try to get their money back” when they become President?

Abangan. tsk.

New Noynoy Ad

Have you seen presidentiable Noynoy Aquino’s new political ad? It’s cute and almost as catchy as Manny Villar’s “nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura” thingy. And funny cause who would have known that Noynoy has a “talent” — i mean he did rap there.. lol. The cutest, however, is Baby James’ appearance at the end of the ad — much like him endorsing his tito — just as Kris endorsed her dad many years ago.

They say among all the presidential aspirants, it is only Noynoy who is the true “opposition” candidate. He has integrity, and his promise not to “steal” is big — cause nobody had made that claim yet. But that promise might haunt him if ever he become President — that’s if he, if ever, would not stay true to his promise.

Anyway, lately we’ve been talking at the office about taxes — and quite true, whatever we do, we are taxed. We are taxed when we earn — like 30% of our earnings, and then we get taxed on each and every little thing we do. Buy something and we get taxed… arghh.. I just hope we get something more from the taxes the government is getting from us — like free hospitalization (free insurance quotes/services), free education, free burol? — just like in Makati. Hehehe.
