Pinoy Dream Academy 10th Gala Performance Night

It’s between Miguel and Inaki…

Scholars Miguel and Inaki are under probation this week, after Cris got unanimously saved by her co-scholars, and Sen, by the mentors (last Saturday).

Now, this 10th Gala Performance Night, the pinoy dream academy scholars are to perform with “real” celebrities. It’s “Performing with Stars”, as teacher Monette puts it.

Here’s what the scholars are going to perform (although subject to changes, you know how it is in production)…

Poy - Livin’ on a Prayer
Van - Bulong
Sen - Can we just stop and talk a while
Cris - Kissing a Fool
Inaki - Proud Mary
Miguel -I’ll Never Say Goodbye
Liezel - Used to Be
Laarni - The Prayer
Bugoy - Whenever You Call

Last night, headmaster Ryan Cayabyab said that it’s Poy’s last week this week. She’s good, yes, but she wasnt able to be star scholar since the beginning of her stay in the academy.

Moreover, as for the celebrity partner, Miguel’s gonna be paired with Sherin Regis, Cris with Richard Poon, Laarni with Jed Madela, Inaki with Bituin Escalante, Sen with Rachel Alejandro, and Poy with the Ryan Cayabyab Singers. No buzz yet on who’s gonna be the partner of the other scholars.

Bunny Out, Laarni the Star Scholar!

Mommy Bunny is out… expelled, eliminated.

But, as always, the show must go on…

So, Laarni-lovers, Laarni is the Pinoy Dream Academy Star Scholar this week (9th Gala performance)!

That means she gets to sing on ASAP 08 too! That’s next week (cause tomorrow, Bugoy’s gonna sing there live with Pinoy Dream Academy First Season Winner Yeng Constantino).

The scholars get to do some counterpointing today. According to the mentors (and the Singing Cooks and Waiters, hehe), counterpointing is when two people sing two different songs, and then they blend it and make it appear as one, even if they’re singing two. Basta, something like that. hehehe.

Anyway, the other scholars in the top three are Bugoy (Laarni’s partner this week) and Poy! Go Poy! Go Poy!

Now, for the bottom four, it’s Sen, Inaki, Cris, and Miguel. The mentors saved Sen.

On a super sad note, Bunny leaves home tonight. (But we think it’s okay… atleast she could go on treatment before their tour goes full blast).

We wish Bunny well. She’s a super fighter, a loving mommy and wifey (Plus, she kinda looks like “Victoria”, the one who sang “Dahan-Dahan”)! We love her!

PDA 8th Gala Night: Scholar Apple is Out, Bugoy is Star Scholar!

Bugoy is the Star Scholar in tonight’s 8th Gala Performance Night… He gets the chance to perform on ASAP 08 Live. Cool, huh! The others in the top three are Liezel and Honorary Scholar Poy.

On a sad note, Scholar Apple is out after getting the lowest vote at 13.30%. Miguel got close to being evicted with 13.96%, and Laarni got a high vote at 72.74%.

Bottom four this week are Bunny (who cant be saved by her co-scholars because she got the lowest grade during their midterm exam), Laarni, Sen, and Miguel.

Really enjoyed Poy and Bugoy’s Magkasuyo Buong Gabi performance. Aside from the fact that it’s one of my favorite songs (yeah, mushy admin me!), I loved how they tried to support each other, even made it a bit believable that they’re lovers. lol. I think Poy’s a very giving person because she does not try to go overboard and kill “the other”, instead, she lowers herself to blend. Bugoy sounds better when he has a partner.

As for the other scholars, think Inaki did great tonight.. not familiar with the song, but he sounded cool doing a bit of a jazz. Bunny’s great as well (thought she even did better than Liezel).

Update: Scholars on Probation are Bunny, Sen, and Miguel. Laarni got saved by the mentors.

Poy versus Bugoy on Pinoy Dream Academy 8th Gala Night

Last week, it’s a catfight between Poy and Laarni!

This Saturday, it’s Poy versus Bugoy!

Honorary scholar Poy will be challenging Bugoy this time, at the 8th Gala performance night in Pinoy Dream Academy. We think it’s a better choice for Poy, cause she could easily beat Bugoy with her voice (oops!), which is what she’s supposed to do to win a few thousand pesos (not really a few at PhP 50,000.00, lol).

They’d be “song-fighting” over Regine Velasquez and Janno Gibbs’ Magkasuyo Buong Gabi!

Here’s a rundown on what the scholars would be singing come Saturday, as chosen by the mentors (so enough of those “the song is not right” comment from the mentors after each performance, okay? ahihi): Apple’s gonna sing Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love”, Bugoy george Michael’s “As”, Cris would be siniging Jordin Spark’s “Tattoo”, Sen Side A’s “Hold On”, and Bunny would be singing “Lady Marmalade”.

Inaki will be singing “Spain”, Laarni Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Liezel would be singing Emotion’s “The Best of My Love”, Miguel’s gonna sing Spandau Ballet’s “True”, Van would sing Bamboo’s “Tatsulok”, and Poy, Barbara Streisand’s “A Piece of Sky”.

So who’s gonna beat who?

Anyway, were hoping on all hopes that Laarni would stay!!!
