Scholars Dancing

Twas a great performance night, with most of the scholars dancing. Of all six, we loved Liezel’s and Laarni’s performances the most. Liezel looks really beautiful when she’s all made up… and we agree, malakas ang international appeal ng lola mo! And Laarni, super confidence nga talaga!

Anyway, Toni did a mini-interview with the scholars… asked Bugoy if he’s gay (well, implied) and he said he’s not.. and that he’s just like that. For Cris, Toni asked about her “relationship” with Sen, and she said they’re friends.

Laarni was asked about her being “overacting” (tfw’s words), as she’s always seen on tv crying and all… Laarni said it’s what she really is, that even if she cries or acts like that, she cares and loves her housemates.

On Miguel, Toni asked about his “decision to choose himself as top scholar” in one of their activities, and how he feels when he ranked 5th (or 6th).. average. He said he did that because he wanted to be the PDA champ, and that it’s okay since we all have to wait til next week to see who’s who.

Van was asked if he would quit now if his mom ask him to, and he said no (we kinda missed what he said, to be honest, haha)… and Liezel about her being from the best to being kinda so-so as the pda near its end. The pretty scholar said she’s been giving her all and her best in her every performance

The scholars also did a dance number, and we think Laarni had a wardrobe malfunction. Hehehe. Bugoy really loves to dance, noh?

A teaser scholar standing was also announced, but it’s the usual scholar a, b, and c thing… so there’s no use posting it right now.

11th Gala Performance Night Results: PDA Top Six Scholars

Summary: Sen is expelled. Top six revealed. PDA Album launched.

Okay.. back to the program:

The 11th PDA Gala Performance Night is on… and we’re blogging live..

So far, we’ve already had a partial list of the top six of the Pinoy Dream Academy…

… Liezel, the star scholar many times over, who’s “battlecry” is “ako si liezel, maliit, maitim, magaling, nakakapuwing”…. who wowed everybody at “hello” (her first performance… which is Dance with My Father)…

… Bugoy, tagged initially as the “male Rosita (of the PDA Season 1 fame)”, who recently had his first celebrity duet with pda winner Yeng Constantino (could this be a sign?)…

… Laarni, or Labarns, who’s probably the most misunderstood scholar in the academy, and who has been wow-ing (wow is our new fave word, lol) the pda viewers week after week, especially when she had this “The Prayer” duet with Jed Madela… wow!

… Miguel, the guy with a decent voice but was a habitual probationary scholar, we wonder why.. who had a “love team”, the silent one…

… Cris, the seductress… the sexy one, who we thought could seduce all men, even the seemingly super naive Richard Poon… Hehehe…

… of course, the slot is open for one more… and who that scholar is, we will know later…

So far, the scholars all already performed… and for us, it was Miguel who sang best tonight. It’s the first time we liked his performance (although Girlie Rodis seemed to not like it)… Laarni sang well, as expected (was off-key once, though), and juror Louie Ocampo said she’s one of the sure top three scholars… Bugoy sounded great too… Liezel was advised to keep her “style”, we think it’s about the presence she has onstage (plus, we think she looks like a Barbie)… Cris was pretty in her gown, although we were expecting more since her song’s already all too familiar to Pinoys, thanks to Jasmine Trias…

PDA Scholars Sing Songs from the PDA Album

The scholars also sang their very first “songs”, courtesy of Maestro (and Head Master) Ryan Cayabyab. It’s for the PDA Season 2 album, “Scholars Sing Cayabyab”… The Cd’s made first available tonight at the Concert Hall (where there’s also gonna be an autograph signing), and is said to be available now worldwide via Dream Big Productions and Star Records.

Sen is now out of the Academy! Van got 54.58% over Sen’s 45.42%. (It’s really hard when one of the two gwapo guys had to leave. Haaay…)

And so the official top six are Liezel, Bugoy, Laarni, Miguel, Cris, and Van! The scholar who will have the highest number of votes til September 14 (or 16? not sure about this, please correct us on the date…) gets to be the winner!

To vote, text PDA (then space) name of scholar and send to 2331 (for Globe, TM, and Sun Cellular) and 231 (for Smart, TalknText, and Addict Mobile).

PS: September 6 Gala is going to be a Benefit Show… for the Pinoy Dream Academy charity event.

PDA 11th Gala Performance Night

The 11th PDA Gala Performance Night is all about the scholars.

This time around, the scholars were given the freedom to choose the songs they’re to perform on the gala night… but, they were tasked to choose not just any “birit” song, but instead, songs with meanings (as far as their lives are concerned).

Here’s a list on what the scholars are going to sing on Saturday:

Van - Who Am I. Not sure but we think it’s a religious song. Van said it has something to do with forgiveness from God, just as he wanted to be forgiven by his mom who’s abroad. (He has this baggage since the start of the show, and it’s weighing him down).

Liezel - Goodbye’s The Saddest Word by Celine Dion. The song’s about her lola, who she loves… especially since its her lola who was with her all her life, since her mom has to work some place else.

Laarni - I Am Blessed by Eternal. If we remember it correctly, it’s a destresser for her, and it’s the songs she sings when she’s got destructions around.

Miguel - Sandra by Barry Manilow. It’s his mom’s favorite — the story of his mom… He said he used to sing this piece, and everytime he does, his mom cries.

Cris - Inseparable by Natalie Cole. She says its her song for all her ex-boyfriends. (now, they’re separated, we bet… joke!)

Sen - Eyes on the Sparrow. He says he is the sparrow, and that it’s symbolic that God is watching over him.

Bugoy - Cant Stop a River by Guy Sebastian. Ooops, sorry, missed his explanation. Peace! Hehehe.

So there…

After the show, we’ll have the Pinoy Dream Academy Top 6 Scholars!

PDA 10th Gala Performance and Eviction Night result

It’s a fight between the fans of the gwapo guys. Sen and Van are on probation this week.

Anyway, for the 10th gala night happenings… Inaki’s stay at the Academy ends today… after getting only 24.03% of the text votes, against Miguel’s 75.97%. Poy also has left the academy. Sad, cause she’s proven to be one of the best.

Now for the good news, Bugoy is again the star scholar! Bugoy had a duet with Vina Morales. (Sidenote: Loved Juror Gerard’s tip!)

The scholars, tonight, proved they could perform, and not be eaten alive by “real” performers! From probationary scholar Inaki’s Proud Mary back-to-back with Bituin Escalante to Honorary Scholar Poy’s “Livin on a Prayer” with the Ryan Cayabyab singers, man, the scholars sounded great (except for two who must not be named. lol)!

We think the best of the night’s Laarni. Mygosh, somebody upload her “performance vid with Jed” on youtube so somebody could “discover” her! Felt her performance, super… Cris was also believable, she looks so sultry that we think even Richard Poon got carried away. Hehehe.

We cant wait for next week!
