PDA Little Dreamer Amy on Ellen

Little Amy’s got international appeal!

Amy on Ellen

Ellen, yes, “the” Ellen who was super instrumental in whatever’s happening to Charice Pempengco’s career now, has reportedly invited our little Amy to appear in her show! In last Sunday’s The Buzz, they made an “eksplosibong rebelasyon” (trans. explosive revelation) about Ellen’s staff having called Amy for an appearance on her tv program. Wow! Sikat!

Ellen, apparently, got interested on little Amy after having watched a YouTube video of her “What’s Love Got to Do with It” Pinoy Dream Academy Little Dreamers gala performance. Oh my, if only Ellen could understand Pinoy language, she sure would also like little Amy’s rendition of Halik (trans. Kiss). That’s her best for me…

Here’s hoping that Amy gets to travel the road Charice and Arnel Pineda are taking, talented Pinoys who are now both making waves in the international scene, after being discovered from YouTube.

Go Amy! Impress the world!

PDA Grand Dream Night: Performance Night

The Astrodome was filled with people… wow.

PDA

It’s the Performance Night of the Pinoy Dream Academy Season Two Grand Dream Night and the top six scholars did make an impression.

The show started with hosts Toni Gonzaga, Billie Crawford, and my fave Nikki Gil singing with the ex-scholars.. afterwards, the top six scholars, Miguel, Laarni, Cris, Van, Liezel, and Bugoy were introduced by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab as “the graduates”.

Then, the performance of the “love teams”, namely, Sam Milby and Anne Curtis for Dyosa, Carmen Soo and Jericho Rosales for Kahit Isang Saglit, and Judy Anne Santos and Derek Ramsey for Humingi Ako sa Langit. Anyway, the girls’ gowns were probably color-coordinated to represent the network. Hehehe.

Now, for the performance of the scholars…

Miguel

Miguel came first, and he sang “Love is on the Way” and “Man on the Mirror” as arranged by Musical Director Samson (not sure if name’s Von)… He was introduced as the outstanding balladeer, well-rounded musician, and versatile artist.. ayos! Girlie Rodis wished him goodluck, and further said that he has improved a lot. Personally, I thought Miguel should have worn a coat over his tshirt so he wouldnt look too boyish cause his image says otherwise.. For a nineteen year old, he looks really mature ha.. But, I like him.. Think he’s nice in person.

Laarni

Laarni came second, and sang “Manalig Ka” and “Boogie Wonderland” as arranged also by MD Samson. It was Ryan Cayabyab who commented on her performance, and he said something like “among all the singers, Laarni’s the most blessed one, cause she can do so many things with her voice…” Great, right? Not! Cause Ryan Cayabyab then pointed out Laarni’s mistake during her performance (now, although Laarni really had some not so good moments when she performed, I think that’s uncalled for considering how Girlie Rodis said only nice things about Miguel, tsk) — in fact, Ryan said “anlaki ng pagkakamali mo!”… which made it even more obvious that he doesnt really like Laarni (as observed by a lot of people in message boards). Tsk.

Cris

Cris sang third, and I loved her performance. She sang “Out Here on My Own” and “Candyman”, as arranged by “the Homer Flores”. She did really, really great.. After her performance, Teacher Monet pointed out that we’ve already branded Cris as sexy and pretty, but now, Cris has proven that she is an artist. Then, Teacher Monet goes poetic (lol) and said “There’s nothing but a bright future in store, for Cris Pastor”… how cute, with the rhyming and all.. Hehehe.

Van

Van came fourth… and sang “Hard Habit to Break” and “Babaeng Probinsyana”… and I love it! Super! He’s actually the best tonight… and mind you, not saying that cause I think he’s cute, but he really did deliver! Joey Reyes said something like “he may not have the best voice, but his biggest advantage is that he is a star!”… And right after Joey said that, he kinda licked the mic! lol.. What’s that for? I kinda have an idea but no, am not getting there! I heart Joey! I would have done that too… Hihihi!

Liezel

Liezel came next… and she sang “I am changing” and “Respect”… Louie Ocampo said he was impressed with her during the first gala, and now, is even more impressed. Yep, I’d say Liezel sang her way to the final three… I still hold to my suggestion that if she collaborates with Billie Crawford, the international market might take notice of her.. Could be the start of a super great career. Plus, I love how they said Liezel is the future of Philippine RnB.

Bugoy

Okay, so last is Bugoy Drilon (wow, new screen name)… he sang “Ligaya” and “Climb every Mountain”.. and showed his deadly damubs (dance moves)… Teacher Kitchie said Bugoy has come a long way since the final screening when he sang “Angels Brought Me Here”.. and that, indeed, angels brought Bugoy there at the Academy. Thought so, too… Nice touch and interplay with words. Love it..

So there, who’s gonna be who? Am still keeping my Laarni guess as the winner.. but if tonight’s performance would be the sole basis, I’d say Van.

Mga fans, vote na! Hehehe…

PDA 12th Gala Performance Night

September 5, 2008 · Filed Under tv · Comment

It’s the Dream Big-ayan Concert for a Cause!

The scholars are gonna be performing in tomorrow’s gala performance night (12th) for charity, on top of the many tv guestings the top six have been doing to add money for their “chosen ones”.

So what will they be singing this time…

Bugoy will be singing Guy Sebastian’s “All I Need is You” (guess he likes Guy, it’s his second time to sing his song, if were not mistaken)… Cris will be singing “Sway” (fitting for her cause she’s sexy, plus it reminds us of Richard Poon… hehehe.

Laarni will be singing “Waray Waray”, and Liezel, Rihanna’s “Please Dont Stop the Music” (Please dont stop it, please dont stop, lalala).. We believe the songs suit their voices.

Miguel’s going to perform Robbie William’s “Rock DJ” (will he take off his clothes the way Robbie did in his music vid? hehehe)… and Van will sing 98 Degrees’ “True to Your Heart” (oh no, it’s like as if he’s asking to be eliminated!)

There will be tickets for tomorrow’s show (no, not charity for the audience, but audience are to take part in the charity itself).

Let’s see who’s gonna be who!

All for charity..

PDA 11th Gala Performance Night

The 11th PDA Gala Performance Night is all about the scholars.

This time around, the scholars were given the freedom to choose the songs they’re to perform on the gala night… but, they were tasked to choose not just any “birit” song, but instead, songs with meanings (as far as their lives are concerned).

Here’s a list on what the scholars are going to sing on Saturday:

Van - Who Am I. Not sure but we think it’s a religious song. Van said it has something to do with forgiveness from God, just as he wanted to be forgiven by his mom who’s abroad. (He has this baggage since the start of the show, and it’s weighing him down).

Liezel - Goodbye’s The Saddest Word by Celine Dion. The song’s about her lola, who she loves… especially since its her lola who was with her all her life, since her mom has to work some place else.

Laarni - I Am Blessed by Eternal. If we remember it correctly, it’s a destresser for her, and it’s the songs she sings when she’s got destructions around.

Miguel - Sandra by Barry Manilow. It’s his mom’s favorite — the story of his mom… He said he used to sing this piece, and everytime he does, his mom cries.

Cris - Inseparable by Natalie Cole. She says its her song for all her ex-boyfriends. (now, they’re separated, we bet… joke!)

Sen - Eyes on the Sparrow. He says he is the sparrow, and that it’s symbolic that God is watching over him.

Bugoy - Cant Stop a River by Guy Sebastian. Ooops, sorry, missed his explanation. Peace! Hehehe.

So there…

After the show, we’ll have the Pinoy Dream Academy Top 6 Scholars!
